Sri Guru Rayara Vaibhavotsava
February 21st - February 26th 2023

Sri Guru Rayara Vaibhovotsava is a six-day commemoration of our beloved guru Sri
Raghavendra Swamy. The celebration starts on Phalguna Shukla Dwiteeya (this year falling on 21 st Feb) which happens to be the Pattabhisheka day of Rayaru and ends on Phalguna Shukla Saptami (this year falling on 26 th Feb) which happens to be his Janmadina (birthday).
SRS Matha, Chicago is commemorating this auspicious week by organizing Rayara Sankalpa Seva for thedevotees to join and take up the oath to complete the seva. Please find the details below.
1. 21 st Feb (Tuesday):
o Start of the Vaibhavotsava with special Ashtothara (10 times) - 6:00 PM (Virtual on Zoom)
2. 22 nd Feb (Wednesday):
o Seva begins by doing Sankalpa facilitated by a priest – 6:00 AM (Virtual on Zoom)
o Post Sankalpa, enrolled devotees will perform the Seva at their own place
o Evening: Devotees will redo the seva – between 5PM - 7PM
3. 23 rd Feb through 25th February (Thursday through Saturday):
o Devotees continue their seva at their own place, morning and evening – between 6AM
4. 26 th Feb (Sunday):
o Devotees continue their seva at their own place in the morning – between 6AM - 8AM
o Devotees will do the last session of seva at their place – between 4PM - 6PM
o After evening session, devotees will attend the udyapana and do arpana and receive phala prapti at the location shared after doing their seva for the evening that day. This udyapana includes an
additional Ashtothara (10 times) and concludes the Sankalpa Seva. - 6:30 PM (In-Person)

RULES TO FOLLOW DURING THE SEVA:
1. Seva to be done in madi. No wet clothes. Clothes which have been dried in madi
should be used.
2. Dress code - Traditional; Pancha and Shalya for men; Saree for women.
3. One should not use hair oil or any type of ointments; one should also not do any
kind of make up or decoration.
4. One should not have a haircut or shave in the days on which seva is being
performed.
5. One should not adorn one’s hair with any flower, other than what has been
offered to Sri Hari-Vayu-Guru.
6. One should eat only once a day. In the night, milk or fruits can be consumed in
moderate quantities.
7. No outside food to be consumed. All food being consumed should be cooked in
the house only.
8. One should not sleep on a bed; however, a chaape (a thin mattress made of
fiber) can be used.
